The Gogol House is a memorial museum and a
scientific library. It is located in a 19th century
mansion, where the writer Nikolai Gogol lived from 1848
to 1852 and where he died. The exhibits reflect his life and
work as a great wordsmith. They uncover the secrets of his
fate and of the burning of the second volume of his Dead
Souls. In the museum yard there is a monument to Gogol
– a masterpiece of monumental art created by Nikolai A.
Andreyev.
